BRIDGES UNITED COLLEGE COUNSELING

Educational Advising and College Admission Counseling

When it comes to choosing the right college and the college admission process, there is no such thing as one size fits all.  This is why at Bridges United we offer one-on-one admission counseling and academic coaching packages that are customized to meet the needs of each student and family. From a single hourly session to a four-year package, we work with our clients to make a highly effective, practical plan for their academic success and long-term educational goals.

Throughout the college admission process, students will learn techniques for setting and pursuing individual goals, they will be able to assess, articulate and acknowledge personal skills, abilities, and growth areas, and will gain time management and organizational skills. Engaging in this process early allows students to create a palpable plan, feel a sense of control over their decision-making process, and take personal responsibility for creating future opportunities as they transfer into, through, and out of college.

Consultation

Consultation with our Bridges United College Counseling expert will allow you to determine which plan is best for your family. This free 30-minute consultation will help our team understand your needs and make recommendations as to what the best plan is for your child. Once you determine your plan, we can begin the process of mapping out the college process.

Platinum Plan

This comprehensive plan is best for students and parents that anticipate more hours of service.  Every family is different and every student’s journey is not the same. This plan allows parents to be assured that their son or daughter is getting the most in-depth plan that Bridges United has to offer. This is a great option for student-athletes and early high school students hoping for an extra year or two of guidance before the active stage of the college admission process begins at the start of junior year.

With the Platinum plan, each student will receive four years of one-on-one admission counseling with a dedicated counselor who will help guide and empower each student through their high school years and address all academic concerns that arise along the way.

This plan includes:

  • Creating a detailed plan for coursework, testing, and extracurricular activities.
  • Planning an appropriately challenging curriculum across the next four years.
  • Evaluating and recommending extracurricular and summer activities, as well as internship and scholarship opportunities.
  • Reviewing teacher, coach, and school counselor relationships for letters of recommendation.
  • Research appropriate colleges and develop a balanced list based on a student’s needs and desires.
  • Preparing students for interviews, simulating the admissions interview process, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Assisting student-athletes with registering with the NCAA and NAIA Eligibility Centers, and ensuring that high school transcripts and SAT and ACT scores have been sent directly to the NCAA or NAIA.
  • Assisting student-athletes with composing Letters of Interest to coaches at colleges that the student is interested in attending.
  • Helping student-athletes compose and update their player resumes.
  • Assisting students with applying for scholarships, institutional aid (need-based or merit-based), or federal aid (FAFSA).
  • Brainstorming, reviewing, editing, and providing feedback on essays and personal statements.
  • Providing resources to stay on task, meet deadlines, and complete all components of the college application.

Approximately 100 hours of service

Diamond Plan

The Diamond Plan is our most frequently contracted package and should sustain the student through the college search and admissions process with a considerable amount of support and direction. This plan was designed for those families that are looking for individual admissions support but do not require as much one-on-one time with their dedicated counselor. This plan would be appropriate for families that are looking to start the college counseling process with students that are already in their sophomore year of high school. This plan includes all of the services offered in the Platinum Plan. Approximately 75 hours of service

Gold Plan

The Gold Plan was designed for students who are entering their junior year. Junior year is the last chance student’s have to make meaningful changes that will influence their overall admission process.  After evaluating the student’s transcript, the dedicated counselor will provide an academic assessment and formulate a plan to maintain the student’s high school performance or improve it. This plan includes all of the services offered in the Platinum Plan.

Approximately 50 hours of service

Silver Plan

The Silver Plan was designed for those families looking for expert professional assistance with the college search, application, interview preparation, and essay composition. This plan is perfect for those students who are prepared to complete several of the tasks that are outlined in the Platinum Plan on their own time. This plan is appropriate for seniors in high school that would benefit from working one-on-one with a dedicated counselor to guide and empower them throughout their last year of high school. The decision-making involved in choosing a college, the application process, and writing college essays can be stressful and overwhelming to many students.  This is a perfect opportunity to take advantage of the many benefits of working one-on-one with a college counselor. Approximately 25 hours of service

Standard Consultation

A consultation is useful for students that need immediate advice for specific questions or concerns that may arise, or for those students looking to establish a rapport with a counselor before choosing an appropriate package. Before the initial consultation, we ask that students and parents submit all appropriate documentation, including the questionnaires provided by Bridges United in advance for review. The two-hour meeting will entail a comprehensive strategic analysis and formulation of an individual academic and athletic plan for the student.

Typical discussions with younger high school students will include course selection that aligns with NCAA and NAIA eligibility requirements, establishing a standardized testing schedule, the player resumes, extracurricular activities, and leadership positions, as well as correcting any mistakes that may have already occurred.

Approximately 5-7 hours of service

Essay Review and Interview Preparation

Work one-on-one with a counselor who can provide tailored support when it comes to brainstorming, reviewing, editing, and providing feedback on essays and personal statements. We also offer these sessions for those who need assistance with the interview portion of the college admission process. These sessions can be booked on an hourly basis.

Fee: $250 per hour

Financial Assistance and payment plans for any of our packages can be made available. Sibling discounts are available after speaking to one of our representatives. Sign-up for any one of our packages by July 15 and receive a 5% off the overall cost. Discounts are not available for hourly consultations.

Recommend another family and receive an additional 5% discount off your overall tuition.
